We celebrated Chinese New Year this year in Memphis at a celebration held by the Families with Children from China group. Evan was a little scared but they ended up having a good time. We got to see a lot of our friends and we're always happy to get to spend time with them. Evan and Mira both got to walk under the dragon in the dragon parade and had fun doing the bubble wrap run.

What else happened?
I guess the next important thing that happened after Christmas and New Years is that Evan started Pre-K. They had an opening in the pre-k program at the primary school so we were able to get him in. He has to dress in the dress code just like the big kids. He was so cute in his khaki's and navy shirt. I could not believe that my baby boy was starting school. He handled it way better than I did. Rog and I both took him on his first day, he went on in and started playing like he'd been there before. I told him from across the room" bye Evan, mom and dad are gonna go now" he just waves us bye from across the room and I couldn't believe it. I was the one crying not him. His teachers can't believe he's never been to school before. He get's a treat from the treasure box every week for good behavior(which is so hard for me to believe) Here's a little pic of his first day of school!!

Long time no Blog!
It has been way too long since I posted! Life has totally been happening and I've not taken the time to fill everyone in on what's been going on with us. Well let me start with Christmas- It was great. Evan really enjoyed the whole "santa thing". He had a ball. Of course, they got way too many toys and we have nowhere to put it all but that's the way it's supposed to be. Here are a few pics of our holidays.

CHI Party
Hi!! Tonight we went to the annual Children's Hope Christmas party for all the Memphis area CHI families. We had a really good time. Santa was the guest of honor. It was very nice, the kids got a good bit of time with him. He walked around and mingled with the kids as they ate. He had a pretty long conversation with Evan. Of course, Evan answered every one of Santa's questions with a question for him. We got to see a few friends. Gili and Tamela and Glenys and Beverly and Beverly's Mom. We travelled to China with them so it's always nice to see them and catch up with all that's going on with our girls. Evan has been very excited about Christmas. He just seems amazed at all the "festivities". He talked all the way home from the party. It's so fun to watch the amazement in his eyes. I just wanted to share the latest adventure. I'm sure there will be many to come. Now for the pictures.

Thanksgiving
Well we finally get to Thanksgiving. Evan, Mira, and I made turkey cookies for Thanksgiving. They were so cute. They actually helped a lot. They rolled out the cookie balls and put all the candy corns on when we decorated them. I was very impressed. Thanksgiving day was very low key. We had dinner with my mom and dad. Roger's brothers celebrate with their own families and his sister had to work. It was just the six of us. We watched the Macy's parade as we cooked. I have been watching that parade since I was little and I still love it. I actually get teary eyed as Santa makes his way down the street. I'm such a dork. Evan and Mira actually sat and watched the parade for a while. They loved Santa. We stuffed ourselves as usual with turkey, dressing, cranberry sauce, rolls, mashed potatoes, sweet potatoes, and last but certainly not least- ooey gooey pumpkin butter cake. It was so good. It's one of Paula Deen's recipes. After we ate, we went home and all 4 of us took a nap. It was a very good day.

Halloween!!
Okay I know it's late but better late than never!! A few days before Halloween, we carved pumpkins. Evan did a pirate and Mira did Cinderella. Well actually Rog and I did the carving and the kids did the scooping out of all the guts. They did not like that part of the job very much. They had a blast on Halloween. Mira loved being Cinderella and of course Evan loved being a Mickey Mouse Pirate. This was Evan's first trick-or-treating experience. He was just amazed that you could just knock on someone's door and they'd come out and give you candy! He did not want to quit but we had exhausted all the friends and family we had in town. He kept wanting to go and go. Of course Mira was just her usual whatever self. She doesn't get really excited about many things. She saves it up for when something is really great!! After trick or treating we came back to Poppa and Gran's for a warm bowl of potato soup and what else for dessert but candy!!

Disney Trip
Well. It's been a while since I've had a chance to post. I wanted to share a few pics of our trip to DisWorld as the kids called it. We went in Septmeber and we all had a ball. At first Evan was scared of the characters but then the second day he was fine. Mira loved them from the beginning. They rode their first roller coaster, Big Thunder Mountain Railroad and loved it. They also were able to ride Splash Mountain and Mira did not like getting wet. It was very, very hot. We stayed at Disney's Pop Century resort. It was very nice to be able to go back to the hotel in the middle of the day to rest. The problem was we were so hot and tired, we usually didn't want to get out again. We're already planning our next trip in January of 2010. It will be a lot cooler and the kids will be 6 and 5. We are planning to rent a condo near Disney. That way we will have separate bedrooms and more room for the kids to play. Plus we can cook and have a washer and dryer. When mom and I wanted to wash clothes, we had to wait for 3 hrs just to get done
I plan on posting Halloween pics as soon as I can. Okay, I know I'm behind; now Thanksgiving is behind us and Christmas is coming very quickly. I will totally catch up this week. I need to do Halloween, then Thanksgiving, and then I will be ready for Christmas.
Hope this finds everyone well. Check back often this week as I plan on posting several times.
